Community Cultural Open Day - June 13th 2015
While we were all disappointed that the 2015 Sunraysia Multicultural Festival did not go ahead in April 2015 due to venue flooding at Nowingi Place, with the support of our partners SMECC was very happy to be able to quickly organise a replacement Community Cultural Open Day event at its new 12th Street facility on 13th of June 2015.
This event included a full range of food & craft stalls, and a full program stage performances from local community members from many different countries. It also included a services information stalls from; SMECC, Sunraysia Community Health Services, Headspace Mildura, Sunraysia Rugby League, and the Red Cross Tracing Service. The event also served as an opportunity for our local Nepalese community to raise much needed funds for their appeal to support victims of the 2015 Nepal Earthquake.
It was estimated that between 1000-1500 people attended on the day and was widely regarded as a great success under difficult circumstances as a replacement event. We are very grateful to our partners who stayed with us to support this event after the cancellation of the Multicultural Festival.
