Mildura SMECC was pleased to host a special "Intercultural Installations & Lunch" community event as part of the official program for the Palimpsest Biennale Arts Festival on 4th October 2015.
Find out more about the festival HERE, and see more info about the SMECC event HERE. The event included a range of art installations from amateur and processional artists from and range of countries and the local indigenous community. The event also included our youth Henna art stall, live music performances and food stalls run by our local ethnic communities. |

As part of this festival SMECC was particularly proud of the Henna artwork installation highlighted at the event. Members of our Afghan and Pakistani community worked with artist Rosina Byrne through a series of workshops to explore the boundaries of henna art.
This resulted in a wonderful installation highlighting their full-body artwork with a model. The girls also provided henna art for guests at the event, and have continued to progress their artwork activities since the event. See our youth projects page for more information. |
